Important instructions for abstract submission

The old passwords from previous years are no longer valid!

Please enter your text in English with a maximum of 3,000 characters. For a successful storage you have to adhere exactly to the given syntax. As soon as you have entered your abstract in the portal, it is automatically saved and appears in the window of your login home page of the abstract portal. You can access your abstract(s) at any time until the abstract submission deadline. If you have any questions or problems, please contact organisation@gfhev.de directly.

When submitting an abstract, it is explicitly stated that in the case of a description of a new disease gene, the gene name must be mentioned in the abstract if the submitter applies for a presentation. If the genname is not mentioned in the abstract, it will automatically be categorized as a poster contribution.

All abstract submitters who have submitted their abstract for a talk are expected to be present until the award ceremony at the end of the conference (Friday, March 18, 2022, 3:45 p.m.).

Information about abstract acceptance

You will receive notification whether the abstract has been accepted and in which form starting from January 24, 2022.

Presentations

Presentations are only possible via data projection in "PowerPoint" format. To avoid conversion and display problems, we ask you to come to the media check beforehand to check your files. If you work with Apple applications, please convert your files, so that they can be opened on a Windows PC. The PowerPoint presentation must be submitted to the media check on CD-R / DVD / USB stick at least 2 hours before the start of the session. Upon prior request, overhead projectors can be made available. The speakers have the opportunity to check that their presentation is running smoothly in advance. Way to location of our media check is signposted in the congress venue.

Posters

Dear abstract submitter,

Please note: We will hold our conference in Würzburg (March 16-18, 2022) as a on-site conference.
Thank you for submitting abstracts - all abstracts were accepted. You can check in which form your abstract has been accepted via our abstract book

There will be no more poster walls at our conference, i.e. your posters will no longer be presented in paper form. Instead, we offer you the presentation in the poster session on site and the placement of your poster for one month on an online platform after the conference.

How will it go?

  • In our poster sessions all posters with an odd abstract number will be presented on Thursday, March 17, 2022, and all posters with an even abstract number - on Friday, March 18, 2022 .
  • The abstracts with *** in the title (in our abstract book) refer to the posters that have been nominated for the poster award. These posters will be presented in short time slots with 3 ppt slides in 3 minutes on site in the Franconia Saal (odd numbers on Thursday and even numbers on Friday). The schedule for your poster presentation can be found here
  • The other abstracts are numbered consecutively and grouped by topic. The corresponding posters will also be presented  in the designated rooms (see schedule) in a short time slot with 2 ppt slides in 2 minutes.
  • The posters are continuously projected onto the large screen in the respective rooms using a projector, which means that everyone involved should adhere to the presentation times so that all presenters have the same opportunity to present their research results.
  • All posters including abstracts will continue to be available online to all conference participants for a period of 4 weeks after the conference. This gives all conference participants the opportunity to take a look at the posters again (especially if they missed individual poster presentations).

What are you submitting?

Powerpoint file (pptx) without animation and videos or pdf file, format: 16:9

When do you submit it?

Before the meeting:
Deadline: Sunday, March 13, 2022

You will receive all the instructions for this on Friday, February 21st, 2022 from our partner Conventus, which also provides media check on site and the online poster platform.

What if you cannot be present in Würzburg in justified cases?

Presentations of nominated posters can only be considered for the award of the poster prize if the presenter is present. Even if you present your poster digitally, you have to register for the conference.

Information on selection process for GfH Young Talent Awards 2022

As every year, the German Society for Human Genetics awards young scientists  with one presentation prize and three poster prizes at its annual conference. All abstracts that have been submitted as a presentation are reviewed in detail by a panel of experts. This review will result in the following:

  1. The 4 best abstracts will be accepted as "Selected Oral Presentations". The best lecture will be awarded the GfH lecture prize.
  2. The following top-rated 54 abstracts will be selected as presentations for the workshops (W1-W9).
  3. The young poster prizes are selected in a two-stage process from the reviewed abstracts that were not selected for any presentation and that also meet the following criteria (a-c). Only those researchers can apply for poster prizes who, at the time of submission of the abstract,

a) are not older than 35 years of age (downtimes for raising children etc. are taken into account accordingly) and
b) whose doctorate (MD or PhD) was not more than 5 years ago or who is currently in the process of acquiring a corresponding degree and
c) who submitted the abstract in presentation category.

In a first step, a pre-selection of 20 abstracts is made from among the best rated. These posters, which have been nominated for the poster prize, will be marked accordingly at the conference and then subjected for the further assessment of the poster presentations during the respective poster session. The evaluation of the posters is based on the following points:

  • scientific focus / content
  • presentation / structure of the poster
  • oral presentation of the data
  • discussion (could questions be adequately answered?)

The GfH poster prize will be awarded to the 3 best posters from among the 20 nominated posters

Here you can find the winners of the last few years.
