Important instructions for abstract submission

Old passwords from previous years are no longer valid. Please create a new profile.

Information on selection process for GfH Young Talent Awards 2023

As every year, the German Society for Human Genetics awards young scientists with one presentation prize and three poster prizes at its annual conference. All abstracts that have been submitted as a presentation are reviewed in detail by a panel of experts. This review will result in the following:

  1. The 4 best abstracts will be accepted as "Selected Oral Presentations". The best lecture will be awarded the GfH lecture prize.
  2. The following top-rated 54 abstracts will be selected as presentations for the workshops (W1-W9).
  3. The young poster prizes are selected in a two-stage process from the reviewed abstracts that were not selected for any presentation and that also meet the following criteria (a-c). Only those researchers can apply for poster prizes who, at the time of submission of the abstract,

a) are not older than 35 years of age (downtimes for raising children etc. are taken into account accordingly) and
b) whose doctorate (MD or PhD) was not more than 5 years ago or who is currently in the process of acquiring a corresponding degree and
c) who submitted the abstract in presentation category.

In a first step, a pre-selection of 20 abstracts is made from among the best rated. These posters, which have been nominated for the poster prize, will be marked accordingly at the conference and then subjected for the further assessment of the poster presentations during the respective poster session. The evaluation of the posters is based on the following points:

  • scientific focus / content
  • presentation / structure of the poster
  • oral presentation of the data
  • discussion (could questions be adequately answered?)

The GfH poster prize will be awarded to the 3 best posters from among the 20 nominated posters

Here you can find the winners of the last few years.

Award of the GfH Young Talent prizes

The award of the presentation and poster prizes will take place on Friday, March 17, 2023 at the closing ceremony.

Presentations

Presentations are only possible via data projection in "PowerPoint" format. To avoid conversion and display problems, we ask you to come to the media check beforehand to check your files. If you work with Apple applications, please convert your files, so that they can be opened on a Windows PC. The PowerPoint presentation must be submitted to the media check on USB stick at least 2 hours before the start of the session. Upon prior request, overhead projectors can be made available. The speakers have the opportunity to check that their presentation is running smoothly in advance. Way to location of our media check is signposted in the congress venue.

Posters

As at the GfH Annual Meeting 2022, the poster exhibition will be digital. There will be no poster boards for paper posters on site. Your posters will be presented on E-Terminals and can also be accessed digital at the GfH E-Poster Portal, e.g. via smartphone. You will receive further information on how to prepare your e-poster with your acceptance notification.

What if you cannot be present in Kassel in justified cases?

Presentations of nominated posters can only be considered for the award of the poster prize if the presenter is present. Even if you present your poster digitally, you have to register for the conference.
